Honest Simplicity

In December, we took the Mobile Bay Ferry from Fort Morgan to Dauphin Island, even spotting a few dolphins along the way.

After grabbing lunch on the island, we visited the Estuarium.  We enjoyed the exhibits and the kids especially liked the sting ray touch pool, the turtle display, seeing a hermit crab through a clear shell, and climbing around the outdoor play area.

After the Estuarium, we toured the historic grounds of Fort Gaines.

The plan was to take the ferry home, but due to fog, the ferry was staying put on the island.  Plan B: drive up to Mobile and take the long way back to Gulf Shores.  In Mobile, we decided to drive through the Christmas Nights of Lights at the Hank Aaron Stadium.  The light show was impressive and the kids absolutely loved it, so maybe it was a good thing that the ferry left us.
