Wardrobe Under 100!
by Alissa
As part of my journey of simplicity, I have been chipping away at my wardrobe…slowly but surely. Participating in Project 333 has helped me tremendously. Each season, I count up all of my clothing and accessory items to be sure the overall total hasn’t increased. The tally had been hovering above 100 for months. I kept whittling away, focusing on the goal of a simpler, tidier, more streamlined wardrobe filled with the clothes I actually love wearing. Gone is the habit of stashing an unadored shirt or dress to the side of the closet, never to be worn again. If I don’t wear it, I don’t need it taking up precious space in my home. If I lose my fondness for a shirt, I let it go. If a pair of sandals aren’t comfortable to wear, off they go. I also replace worn out clothes or pieces I’ve fallen out of love with. It has been a slow process of elimination, but I finally got my entire wardrobe (all seasons) below 100 items! My total is currently at 99 (though I’m not stopping there). Simplifying isn’t about numbers, but counting up possessions keeps the clutter creep in check. Here’s my current tally:

Sometimes it takes a while to get there. I found that while I was pretty certain of my first 20 or so items, I took a long time to figure out the remaining 13. I’m still figure it out, to be honest. I’m at *about* 33, but not certain of the exact number. I suppose I’d better work it out!
Maybe numbering my coathangers is the way to go?
When I’ve done Project 333, I give myself the first week or so to switch items out. It does take a while to get in the groove of things.
It really does. I’m in my second month of the Project now, and still figuring things out. Most of it is pretty set now, but I’m still not certain of a few items. It’ll come 🙂
