What We’ve Been Up To in Florida

We’ve been in Florida for nearly two months and I’m just now posting about this leg of our trip.  We’ve been staying at the Sherwood Forest RV Resort in Kissimmee and it is a huge RV park.  If you are looking for a cozy quiet park where you are on a first name basis with the office staff, this is likely not the park for you.  If you want to be very close to theme parks, it will work wonderfully.  Luckily, we met some great people and made new friends during our stay.

Here’s what we’ve been up to:

We absolutely loved the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios.

We made time to play miniature golf.

The Kennedy Space Center was a big hit and seeing the SpaceX rocket launch was very cool.  The first scheduled rocket launch was scrubbed 13 seconds before the launch, but we came back the next morning for a successful launch.  We made time to go to the beach at Cape Canaveral as well.

We took the kids to Medieval Times for dinner and a show.  It sounds a bit cheesy, but it is fun family entertainment and they feed you quite well.  They also have a medieval village outside which is worth visiting.  There are actual historical objects, including a 800 year old floor loom and much more.

Disney’s Magic Kingdom was fun, but busy busy busy!  The kids were pretty blown away when they saw the Cinderella Castle.  We enjoyed the rides, but the Swiss Family Treehouse ended up being one of our favorite attractions.

At Epcot, we loved the flower displays, the Norwegian Village (including Frozen Ever After), Morocco, Living with the Land, and Mission: Space.

At Hollywood Studios, Star Wars characters abounded.  We were impressed by the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular and we all survived the Tower of Terror.

We could have spent another day at the Animal Kingdom.  We had fun riding Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids, and we all enjoyed It’s Tough to be a Bug!  The kids rode the Primeval Whirl coaster over and over again.  The peaceful shaded sections of the park were a nice break from the crowds and noise.

Whew!  You made it through that long but overdue post.
